DOCOMO is
Japan’s largest cellular provider with the largest coverage area. NTT introduced
the first 3G network worldwide and introduced High-Speed 7.2MB data
service. AU/KDDI service provides CDMA and CDMA2000 cellular service
and has the 2nd largest coverage area. Softbank and
Willcom have smaller networks.

Be sure to ask which provider is offered when choosing devices for
Japan. Companies which offer FREE phones, prepaid phones or
unusually low rates normally do not utilize NTT DoCoMo's or AU's
networks. |
